beauty & essex

146 Essex St.

Ah.  Beauty & Essex is my absolute favorite.  First of all, the restaurant is behind a pawn shop, which is just so hip that it kills me.  Plus, they serve champagne in the ladies' room in the evening and I am invested in anywhere that serves champagne for free.  I love it for dinner but I LOVE it for brunch.  This hip Lower East Side locale is both popular and delicious, and with my sister in town for a visit, I knew she would love it, too!

We indulged in vanilla beignets with raspberry jam & red velvet waffles with cream cheese frosting to start.  CAN'T. SAY. NO.

Red Velvet Waffles, OMG.

Vanilla Beignets THAT MELT IN YOUR MOUTH.

The main course included chicken biscuits and the most wonderful grilled cheese, tomato soup and smoked bacon dumplings.  I want these served every day of my life.

Every time I go I make sure to order something new.  Goal for 2015?  Try every single thing on the brunch menu.  I'll keep y'all posted...
