I've always been a voracious reader. When I was little, I used to get headaches from all the books I had stuffed under my pillows when I was up reading past bedtime.
As I got older, I turned to books to fuel my curiosity about niche topics, to find comfort on lonely days, and transport me to faraway lands. My love for reading not only helped me to cultivate an imagination, but inspired me to immerse myself in the tangible world around me, and to try to understand people who are not like me.
Molly Reads Books is meant to inspire others (especially women!) to pick up a book (or many!). For some, this may mean reading a NYTimes bestseller in fiction instead of spending an hour scrolling through Pinterest, or it may mean reading a book about the inner workings of Google instead of chick lit. We live in a time where the art of losing yourself in a book won't ever seem as cool as a club opening. $1000 on brand new hardcovers and audiobooks over the course of a year will never be as appealing to some as a pair of Stuart Weitzmans. For someone who loves wearing her over-the-knee boots to the club, I'm here to tell you that you can have both, although what you will learn about yourself and others through the written word will far outweigh the benefits of something as ephemeral as footwear. The boots will eventually go out of style, but I can promise you that being smart and thoughtful and articulate never will.
