The Bookshop on the Corner (Jenny Colgan, 2016)

How I stumbled upon it: In a used bookstore in Nashville, then as a recommended audiobook on my library app.

What it's about: When Nina’s library job is eliminated, she’s stuck with learning an IT role or striking out on her own. Before she even knows what she’s doing, she has purchased a secondhand van, renovated it, and found herself in a tiny remote village in Scotland pairing the right books with the right readers. There’s a love interest (of course), and plenty of Scottish scenery to keep you moving quickly.

What I thought: It’s the perfect read for readers. If you love books, you’ll find yourself quickly captivated by Nina and her desire to be surrounded by books + readers at all times. I loved following her story through Scotland and am half tempted to quit my job and start a book bus (JK employer, JK). It’s a great summer read!

You can get it here.
