Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person (Shonda Rhimes, 2015)

How I stumbled upon it: Amazon's Recommended for You section.

What it's about: Shonda Rhimes, creator of everything you would want to watch on a Thursday night (Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder) shares some of her personal stories and tips for saying yes to what life has to offer.  She tells stories of her time on the sets of her shows, her childhood as a writing prodigy, her children, love, and what it means to persevere and live life to it's fullest.

What I thought: I listened to the audiobook on Audible and it was SO good.  I loved listening to Shonda tell these stories in her own voice and time. It was the perfect book to start at the beginning of a new year when you are reevaluating your goals.  She's so witty and encouraging, but also tells it like it is without sugar coating the ways that we try and take the easy way out of putting ourselves out of our comfort zones.  If you are stuck in a rut (or even if you're not) you should read immediately!

You can get it here.
