The Last Mrs. Parrish
The Last Mrs. Parrish (Liv Constantine, 2017)
How I stumbled upon it: Reese Witherspoon’s book club! Plus, my friend Rachel convinced me to take this one on vacation.
What it's about: Amber Patterson is lonely, cunning, and kind of twisted. She moves to Connecticut to befriend Daphne Parrish in an attempt to manipulate the family and get ahold of the money, power, and status that she so richly deserves. It’s definitely a thriller with twists + turns + an ending that was way richer than I expected.
What I thought: It was a bit slow at first, but once I got going I stayed up all night finishing this one! Amber is so deviant and Daphne is so unwary that I spent most of the night on the edge of my bed, unable to stop the events from unfolding, but not wanting it to end. Unlike most books, I was actually pretty pleased with the ending - spoiler - everyone got just what they deserved.
