Worthy Fights: A Memoir of Leadership in War and Peace (Leon Panetta, 2014)

How I stumbled upon it: I have been wanting to read this since it was released!

What it's about: Leon Panetta, former Chief of Staff under President Clinton and Director of the CIA under President Obama chronicles his career in his memoirs. This memoir spans his time as an army intelligence officer, his tenure as a member of Congress and finally his presidential appointments.

What I thought: Y’all I think Leon Panetta is so likable and it comes through in his memoirs.  He’s funny, very Catholic, very loyal to his homeland in California, (hey, SCU grads!), and very interested in making rational choices that are rooted in common sense.  This memoir definitely gets slow at points (aka the Congress years), but I found it overall enjoyable and an interesting, respectful perspective (especially rare for a politician).
