The Alice Network (Kate Quinn, 2017)

How I stumbled upon it: Reese Witherspoon’s book club!

What it's about: In 1947, Charlie is a society girl who falls pregnant and is sent to Europe to “take care of things,” but instead runs off in search of her cousin who was lost in Europe during the war. There, she meets Eve, who was a former elite spy during WWI, and who is now a complicated alcoholic with quite the temper.  They meet through unlikely circumstances and team up to uncover the truth once and for all.

What I thought: This is the last book that I stayed up all night to finish. The plot was so rich and the characters so flawed that I needed to stay awake to find out what would become of them. I really enjoy WWII fiction as well as fiction that spans the decades and if you like books that rely heavily on the use of flashbacks, you’ll enjoy this one too. +1 for strong female characters!
